2010 Chevrolet Corvette Z06X Concept
2010 Red Chevrolet Corvette Z06X Concept
Hit the jump for the full press release and check out our gallery below. The biggest weight savings, however, has to come from the polycarbonate rear window which is also lifted straight from the C6R. Chevrolet has also bolted on a new raised carbon-fiber hood along with carbon headlight housings to shave a few pounds.

The suspension wizards at PFADT were so kind as to supply a set of mono-ball control arm bushings, adjustable stabilizer bars and a complete coilover suspension, too. Under the hood, the standard LS7 V8 benefits from a new low-restriction intake and a more robust coolant system. Throw in an adjustable rear wing borrowed straight from the C6R along with a full SCCA roll cage and you've got the bones for go-fast trackday goodness. Built by the Corvette legends at Pratt and Miller, this Satin White machine started its life as a Z06 with the CFZ carbon-fiber package.

Called the Corvette Z06X, the bruiser is effectively a race-ready behemoth with a host of suspension tweaks and a slew of weight-reducing materials on board. Chevrolet was kind enough to give us a sneak sampling of what the company has planned for SEMA 2010, and the star of the show looks to be the car you see above, Moreover : 2010 Kia Optima

Those looking for a comfortable, affordable commute might find that the Kia offers a lot of car for a fairly low entry And while its steering is dull to many reviewers, it offers a comfortable ride that is fairly isolated from the road, and is quieter at highway speed than the more-expensive Honda Accord. But it is more comfortable, and built with a higher degree of craftsmanship, than buyers might expect to find in one of the least expensive midsize cars. It can’t approach the near-luxury cockpits available in some affordable midsize cars like the Chevy Malibu or Ford Fusion. Reviewers are often surprised by the quality of its cabin.

But there is a strong value argument to be made for the Optima. Its available V6 is barely more powerful than its standard inline four-cylinder engine, and probably isn't worth the extra cash. The Optima’s handling is loose, reviewers say, and its looks are as generic as family sedans get. In some ways, it shows.
Luxury Kia optima
The 2010 Kia Optima is one of the least-expensive midsize cars. Kia’s steadily-improving Optima should make it onto the test-drive list of some shoppers looking to spend less than $20,000 on a midsize car, but only those willing to accept sub-par driving dynamics and a bland appearance in exchange for a low price and a long warranty. This ranking is based on our analysis of 31 published reviews and test drives of the Kia Optima, and our analysis of reliability and safety data. The 2010 Kia Optima ranks 17 out of 21 Affordable Midsize Cars.

A new G6 is likely to depreciate quickly now that the model has It shares parts with other midsize cars like the Chevy Malibu and Buick LaCrosse -- so it should be relatively simple to maintain a G6 even after the model leaves showrooms. Other GM dealers will service this car. Pontiac's fate shouldn't necessarily scare away buyers. See our best car deals page for current offers.

In the current economic climate, those cars can often be found at a discount. Those interested in an American-made midsize sedan might want to consider the more refined Chevrolet Malibu or Ford Fusion instead. And few consider its interior class-competitive. Some like the handling of the G6, though not in convertible form. But reviewers say all but the most expensive engine make the car feel sluggish off the line.

Available as a coupe, a sedan or a hardtop convertible, with three engine options, the G6 can be ordered in many different configurations. Those currently on dealership lots are the last of the line -- though that may make it easy to negotiate a deal. The G6 is doomed -- General Motors has announced plans to shut down the Pontiac brand at the end of 2009, and has already stopped building the G6. Underpowered, with a substandard interior, it trails most of the midsize class -- but is often available at a considerable discount. The automotive press was neither impressed nor offended with the G6. The Pontiac brand is due to disappear from American roads this year, and the 2009 Pontiac G6 with it, Moreover : Dodge Trucks

2011 Elegant Nissan Juke
As it promises to be “part SUV, part sports car,” we’ll be eager to see the 2011 Nissan Juke in person when it goes on sale later this year. Buyers will be able to choose between a six-speed manual or a continuously variable transmission. A diesel engine will also be available, but don’t expect to see it here. Confirming the news amid the Chicago Auto Show, Nissan officials stated that the Juke will hold a unique place in the lineup as it’s designed as a “a sporty crossover alternative to traditional small hatchback vehicles.” The European Juke will feature either front wheel drive or AWD, and be powered by a 187 horsepower 1.6-liter direct injected turbocharged four-cylinder or a 113-hp 1.6-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine.

Teased a few weeks ago as a preview to its official debut next month in Geneva, Nissan announced today that the Juke will officially be heading to the US. But from the looks of the 2011 Nissan Juke, that’s alright by us. In addition to the Cube, Rogue, Murano, Xterra, Pathfinder, and Armada, there’s apparently still some room in Nissan’s lineup for another crossover vehicle.
